Abstract

Education is essentially the main basic need. Along with technological progress and moral decadence that are increasingly rampant, the school has a role as a place to gain knowledge in educating students towards a good person. Through character education, the most important thing to be addressed is religion, because religion is the key to one's faith which is primarily instilled in human beings. One effort to inculcate religious values on the character of students is needed the right conditions, efficient, and effective in order to make it easier for this character education to be easily applied and well received. Thus, a suitable strategy is needed. The problems examined in this study are what are the religious character education strategies used by Sambi Boyololali 1 Public Middle School and what are the obstacles in religious character education and solutions to overcome these obstacles in Sambi Boyolali 1 Public Middle School. The purpose of this study is to explain the strategy of religious character education in Sambi Boyolali 1 Public Middle School and identify the factors that are obstacles in conducting religious character education and solutions to overcome these obstacles. This research is a field research using a type of qualitative research. The method used is interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that religious character education strategies can use several strategies including classroom learning activities, daily activities in the form of school culture, extra curricular or curricular activities, home and community activities, moral knowing, moral loving, moral doing, exemplary, planting discipline, habituation, creating a conducive atmosphere, and integration and internalization. The religious values developed in Sambi Boyolali 1 Public Middle School include the values of honesty, tolerance, devotion, courtesy, discipline, responsibility, and equality. The constraints include: a) family factors, b) environmental factors, c) internet factors. Solutions provided include: a) Collaborating with parents b) Creating a comfortable atmosphere and religious activity program, c) Schools collaborating with Walikelas and BP teachers, d) Through religious extracurricular activities that can guide children's character, and e) Hold competitions that can develop student interests and talents.
