Abstract

The ability to regulate emotions in adolescents is very important to be able to manage negative emotions into positive emotions, and be able to reduce negative / deviant behavior in adolescents. However, in reality the ability to regulate emotions in adolescents is still relatively low, this is marked by various problems that occur such as truant behavior, bullying, aggressiveness, and so on. One of the factors that influence emotional regulation is parent-child attachment. The purpose of this study was to determine the positive relationship between parent-child attachment and emotional regulation. The samples taken were 54 students. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. The instruments used were emotional regulation scale and parent-child attachment. The results of data analysis using product moment correlation is obtained (r) of 0.237 with a significance of 0.042 (p˂0.05). This study shows that 54 students (100%) have moderate attachments, then 31 students (57.4%) have moderate emotional regulation and 23 students (42.6%) belong to the high category. The results showed a positive relationship between parent-child attachment and emotion regulation, which means that the higher parent-child attachment, the higher the regulation of emotions in adolescents.
