Abstract
Exclusive breastfeeding can provide health benefits for babies and can reduce infant mortality. The Ministry of Health has recommended that mothers throughout Indonesia breastfeed their babies exclusively for 6 months as stated in UU No. 36 of 2009. In 2017 the coverage of infants who were exclusively breastfed in Grobogan Regency was 11.92%. This figure has not yet reached the national target of 80%. This study aims to analyze the relationship of maternal characteristics, knowledge, husband support and family support to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in the Purwodadi I Community Health Center Working Area in Grobogan Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design. The population of this study were all mothers who had infants aged 6-12 months in the Purwodadi I Community Health Center Working Area of 1,029 mothers. Samples were taken from 258 mothers using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal education (p = 0.008), mother's work (p = 0.001), mother's knowledge (p = 0,000), husband's support (p = 0,000) and family support (p = 0,000) on exclusive breastfeeding practices in the Purwodadi I Community Health Center I Grobogan Regency. However, there was no relationship between the age of the mother and the practice of exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.779).
