Abstract

Music schools are places where education about music is given. The development of music schools themselves is supported by the emergence of various studies and research on the positive influence of music learning on human intelligence, especially in jazz. A study conducted by Schellenberg (2004), found that 6-year-old children who attended piano or vocal classes experienced an IQ increase compared to children who did not take music classes. Another study conducted by Blaum in 2003 found that after students listened to jazz music, the mood of students improved, thus helping students to learn. Another fact of jazz is that jazz is an abstract music genre that is not easily digested. These facts then underlie the author to design a jazz music school to facilitate people who want to learn jazz and or develop their talents. Originating from a modern country, namely America, jazz cannot be separated from the modern feel. Referring to the modern word in KBBI which means the latest or the latest, the design of this jazz music school building will later use a post modern architectural style to show that the building is a jazz school. The characteristics of post modern architecture are modern, simple, and environmentally friendly.
