Abstract

Background: Mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) is one of the herbs. Active substances such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins that contained in the ethanol extract of mangkokan leaves (Nothopanax scutellarium) has activity as natural larvacide. Objective: To determine the effect of ethanol extract of mangkokan Plant (Nothopanax scutellarium) tothemortality ofAnopheles aconitus[L.] larvae Research Method: This research used a laboratoryexperimental design that is giving the treatment of the ethanol extract of the mangkokan Plant (Nothopanax scutellarium) On Anopheles aconitusLarvae using the post test only with controlled group design method. The sample used was Anopheles aconitus mosquito with extract concentration of 1%, 1.75%, 2.5% and 3.25%. the research test was repeated four times. Then the number of larval deaths was calculated for 6 and 24 hours. Research Results: Based on the results at 6 and 24 hours of the Kruskall-Wallis non-parametric statistical test obtained p-value = 0,000, which means there are significant differences in larvicidal effects between groups. Based on the results at 6 and 24 hours of the Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney test all concentrations had a significant difference compared to the negative controls. Whereas when compared with positive controls abate, at the 6th hour the concentration of 3.25% was not significantly different and at 24 hours all concentrations differed not significantly with the lowest concentration of 1%. This shows that at the 6th hour the concentration is 3.25% and at 24 hours the concentration of 1% is effective in killing the Anopheles aconitus larvae equivalent to abate. Conclusion: Ethanol extract of mangkokanplant (Nothopanax scutellarium) has a natural larvicidal effect on Anopheles aconitus Larvae
