Abstract
This study aims to describe the teacher's and students' language behavioral level in learning Indonesian class VII in Surakarta State 18 Junior High School. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. The data in this study are in the form of words and sentences that contain adherence to politeness principles and violations of the teacher and student politeness principles. The source of data in this study was the seventh grade Indonesian teaching and learning activities at Surakarta State 18 Junior High School. Data collection techniques in this study used interactive analysis models. The validity of the data in this study uses triangulation theory. The results showed that the researchers found 20 data containing 8 forms of language adherence to the teacher and 12 forms of language adherence to students. Furthermore, the researchers found 4 data containing 3 forms of violation of the principle of language politeness in the teacher and 1 form of violation of politeness principles in students in learning Indonesian Language. Based on the analysis of the level of politeness of the teacher and students in Indonesian language learning at grade VII in Surakarta State 18 Junior High School. said students are more polite in the use of language, because the number of adherence to the principle of student language politeness is more than the level of politeness of language in the teacher. Furthermore, the level of violation of language politeness is more inclined to the teacher, because the number of violations of teacher politeness level is greater than that of students.
