Abstract
This study aims to describe (1) the skills of teachers in preliminary activities, (2) the skills of teachers in core activities, and (3) the skills of teachers in closing activities in mathematics learning for class VIII students at SMP 2 Gatak Sukoharja. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of the study uses data source triangulation and triangulation of data collection techniques or methods. Data analysis in this study is interactive. The researcher obtained three findings, namely (1) The teacher already has the skills to open lessons in accordance with the related components, (2) Mathematics learning there are still indicators of basic teaching skills that have not been mastered by the teacher, such as the variation skills because the teacher always applies the same method in each learning method is lecture and group discussion, and (3) The teacher has the skills to close the lesson in accordance with several related components.
