Abstract
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is one treatment that has been used for a long time to treat various mental disorders. To achieve maximum benefits with minimum risk, this therapy is develops much better by administering anesthesia and controlled electric current flow that has been medically calculated. Every patient who gets therapy certainly has different experiences. This experience is in the form of physiological and psychological experience. The purpose of this study is to analyze physiological and psychological experience before, during, and after therapy in patients with mental disorders. This type of research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The sample of this study amounted to five respondents using Non-probability Sampling with purposive sampling technique. The conclusion of this study is as follows. 1) Physiological and psychological experience before psychiatric patients get therapy, namely already accustomed to not being afraid and anxious, told to fast, felt his body tortured, restless, scared, and anxious. 2) Physiological and psychological experience after psychiatric patients get therapy, namely limp, nausea, feel sleepy, restless, dizzy, confused, and scared. 3) Physiological experience of mental patients during therapy, namely muscle spasms lasting 2-3 seconds, rebel, want to take off the tool, want to throw up, tear, and look sad, and restless.
