Abstract

The purpose of this study were (1) to describe the sosiohistoris Ahmad Fuadi background as a novelist Children Overseas; (2) Describe the elements that build the Overseas Kids novel by Ahmad Fuadi; (3) Describe the cultural values contained in the Overseas Kids novel by Ahmad Fuadi; (4) Describe the implementation of the Overseas Kids novel by Ahmad Fuadi in learning in high school. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study is a word, phrase, sentence, or discourse in the novel Children Overseas containing cultural values. Sources of primary data in this study is novel by Ahmad Fuadi Overseas Children, while the secondary data source is a novel trilogy State Lima Tower, and scientific article entitled "Cultural Values in Rice Cultivation Grow Mantra in the Village Ronggo, District Jaken, Pati regency, Central Java: Function Study of Literature "and a book entitled" Cultural Values in Multiple Karya Nusantara Literature: Literature in Borneo ". Data validation with theoretical triangulation technique. The results of this study were (1) Background sosiohistoris Ahmad Fuadi is a Minang birth, and has had several works, both fiction and non-fiction. (2) Elements that build novel Children Overseas. This novel has a theme of religious education, making Hepi as the main character, and has advanced workflow built through two background places, namely Jakarta and Tanjung Durian village in Minang. (3) The value of culture in the novel Children Overseas divided into five, namely the cultural values in human relationships with God, man's relationship with nature, man and society relations, human relations with others, and cultural values of mankind's relationship with yourself. (4) The results of this study can be implemented in literary learning in class XI high school with KI 3, and KD. 3.11, because it has met the criteria for teaching materials, namely from the angle of language, maturity of the soul (psychology), and the cultural background of students.
