Abstract
This study aims to describe 1) the implementation of the character of discipline and responsibility through scout extracurricular activities, 2) inhibiting factors of the character and discipline through scout extracurricular activities, 3) the solution to the inhibiting factors of cultivating the character of discipline and responsibility through scout extracurricular. Collecting data used to apply these characters by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data by using several techniques including technical triangulation and source triangulation. The type of research used is a type of qualitative research. The informants from this study were principals, scout coaches and grade IV and V students. The research showed that 1) the implementation of the character and discipline through scout extracurricular activities had run smoothly and developed in a better direction, 2) inhibiting factors of character building discipline and responsibility through scout extracurricular that is students have not used scout clothes with complete attributes and have not obeyed the rules, 3) the solution of the inhibiting factors is planting the character of discipline and responsibility through scout extracurricular namely students are given a gradual punishment.
