Abstract

This research paper is intended to describe the English teaching-learning process by the classroom teacher, focusing on (1) curriculum, (2) the method of teaching, (3) teaching media and (4) evaluation system. This research focused on speaking and reading skills as a limitation This study is a qualitative research. In collecting the data, the writer uses observation, interview, and document analysis. The technique of analyzing the data involves (1) data reduction, (2) data display, and (3) verification. The result of the study shows that the curriculum used by classroom teacher is Competence Based Curriculum. There are two objectives of teaching in English in SD N Gabus 4 Ngrampal Sragen, namely: General Instructional objective and Specific Instructional objective. The teacher makes the syllabus based on the theme on the texts book. The method used by the classroom teacher is Contextual Teaching and Learning. The teaching media used are text book, blackboard and chalk. The evaluation system includes periodical tests and final tests. In general, the English teaching learning process runs smoothly but there are limited variations in the method. The classroom teacher must increase her skills and be more creative in using various methods.
