Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the literacy of buying goods for students’ consumption are related to current students who want to look trendy and the social environment that likes to spend their time at the shopping centers and other places for hangout. This type of research is a study of quantitative survey where the conclusions are derived based on the results of statistical analysis. The subject of this study was 200 students of class XI IPS SMA Batik 1 Surakarta and sample of 127 2 students taken with probability sampling technique is simple random sampling. The required data is obtained through a questionnaire that had previously been tested using validity and reliability test. Data analysis techniques used are multiple linear regression test, t test, F test, R2 test, and relative and effective contribution. The result of research using regression analysis obtained by regression equation is: Y = 8,191 + 0,288 X1 + 0,505X2. The equation shows that the literacy of buying goods is influenced by the habit of looking trendy and the social environment. The conclusions taken are: 1) The habit of looking trendy influence on spending literacy is acceptable. This is based on multiple linear regression (t test) known that thitung > ttable, that is 2,701 > 2,268 and the significance value 0,05 < 0,008 with relative contribution 19% and effective contribution 5,833%. 2) the social environment has an effect on the spending literacy is acceptable. It is based on multiple linear regression (t test) known that thitung > ttable, that is 6,355 > 2,268 and the significance value < 0,05 ie 0,000 with relative contribution 81% and effective contribution 24,867%. 3) the habit of looking trendy and the social environment towards spending literacy can be accepted. This is based on the analysis of double linear regression variance (F test) known that Fhitung > Ftable, that is 27,438> 3,069 and the significance value < 0,00 that is 0.000.4) coefficient of determination (R2) equal to 0,307 indicate that the influence of habits to look trendy and the social environment toward spending literacy is 30.7%, while 69,3% are influenced by other variables that are not researched by the researcher.
