Abstract
Background: Olecranon fracture is a disconnection of the olecranon bone which causes pain in the elbow, limited range of joint motion, and decreased muscle strength, so that the patient experiences disruption in functional activity. Physiotherapy modalities used to overcome these problems are InfraRed (IR), Hold Relax, and Resisted exercise. Purpose: To determine the level of pain felt using a VAS scale, limited range of joint motion with goniometer, and muscle strength with MMT. To find out the benefits of physiotherapy management with InfraRed (IR) modality, exercise with hold relax, and resisted exercise in reducing pain, increasing the range of joint motion, and increasing muscle strength. Result: Provision of an IR, hold relax, and resisted exercise modality has been shown to reduce pain both silent pain, tenderness, and motion pain, increase the range of joint motion in flexion and extension, and increase the strength of the left elbow drive muscle in cases of olecranon fracture sinistra.
