Abstract

This research aims to find out and describe: 1) Islamic education teachers’ professional competence. 2) Headmaster’s efforts in developing Islamic education teachers’ professional competence. 3) Problems faced by headmaster in developing Islamic education teachers’ professional competence. 4) Solutions for headmaster’s problem related to development of Islamic education teachers’ professional competence in MIM GonilanKartasura. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Data legitimacy can be shown by triangulation technique of source and method. Analysis technique consists of data reduction, serving, and conclusion. Based on data analysis result, it could be concluded that (1) Islamic education teachers’ professional competence was shown from: material, structure, concept and scientific thinking pattern mastering that support teaching-learning activity, mastering Competence Standard (SK) and Basic Competence (BC) of development field subject, developing learning material creatively, developing 2 sustainable professionalism by doing reflection, using technology for better communication support and self-development. (2) Headmaster’s efforts in developing Islamic education teachers’ professional competence were drawn by the increase of teachers’ professional competence, clinical supervision, working motivation increase, and working coaching. (3) Problems faced by headmaster in developing Islamic education teachers’ professional competence were: insufficient infrastructure, headmaster’s attention, the lack of headmaster’s ability to communicate effectively to other teachers, and the absence of activities outside the school time for developing Islamic education teachers’ professional competence. (4) Solutions for headmaster’s problem related to development of teachers’ professional competence were: doing effort by making financial proposal, scheduling supervision, learning to communicate effectively to teachers for headmaster, and urging cooperation with universities for social service.
