Abstract

The purpose of this research is to classify ambiguity and improvement of indicator sentence. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is ambiguity in phrase and clause on lattice indicator about UTS, UAS, and Vocational Class VII Year lesson 2016/2017. Techniques of collecting data writers do the techniques refer and note. Data analysis obtained from the subjects of class VII students SMP level in Boyolali District. Ambiguity in indicators of Indonesian as many as 3 indicators, PAI 5 indicators, Civics 4 indicators, IPS 1 indicator, IPA 2 indicators, TIK 1 indicator, Kerumahtanggaan 2 indicators, Mathematics 2 indicators, and Penjasorkes 1indikator. Classification of phrases, clauses, and sentences derived 21 ambiguities consisting of ambiguity of phrase form (52.38%), cluster form ambiguity (33.33%), and ambiguity of sentence form (14.29%). The results of the classification found 11 causes of ambiguity, namely (1) Loss of Pronouns (20%), (2) Lack of Front Words (from and for) (26.6%), (3) Use of Punctuation ("... ") (15.5%), (4) Loss of Compound Verbs (4.4%), (5) Loss of Predicate Forming Elements (6.6%), (6) Lack of Conjunctions and Conjunctions or (6.6 %), (7) Absence of the Word (2.2%), (8) Lack of Feed (2.2%), (9) Inappropriate Selection of Word (4.4%), (10) Number One Sentence Makers (6.6%), and (11) Inappropriate Sentence Arrangements (4.4%).
