Abstract

This research aimed to increase the process and the speaking skill quality of students grade XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri Weru Sukoharjo Regency Academic Year 2009/2010 by implementing Cooperative Teaching Learning Model using Jigsaw Type. To achieve that goal the Classroom Action Research (PTK) has been developed. Before conducting the classroom action research (PTK) the researcher did some surveys at the beginning to identify the problems and some causes which have happened in grade XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri Weru Sukoharjo Regency Academic Year 2009/2010. Classroom Action Research (PTK) has been done in 2 cycles. The steps for each cycle are planning, conducting, observing, and reflecting. The data and the source data were taken from teaching learning cases in that class. After the data were collected, it will be validated with triangulation theory technique and source data triangulation. Then the data were analyzed using comparison cross-cycle analysis technique. The result pointed out that Cooperative teaching learning model using jigsaw type can increase the quality of speaking skill in teaching learning process. That can be seen from the indicators: a) attention; b) courage to deliver opinion; c) cooperation; and d) the ability of using Indonesian language coherently, right in order. In cycle I the success percentage in 56% (19 students), in cycle II the success percentage increased in 71% (24 students). The cooperative teaching learning model using jigsaw type can increase the result of speaking skill in teaching learning process. Based on the speaking skill aspects: (1) Pronunciation: In conducting cycle I the classroom average result = 3.4 (medium), in cycle II has increased in 3.7 (good); (2) Vocabulary; cycle I the average result = 3.35 (medium), in cycle II has increased in 3.55 (good); (3) Fluency; cycle I the average result = 3.2 (good), in cycle II has increased in 3.55 (good); (4) The Idea Quality; cycle I the average result = 3.15 (medium), in cycle II has increased in 3.55 (good).
