Abstract
Background: Elderly will experience a physical or psychological setback that leads to degenerative. Degenerative disorders include the decline in the function of balance. With this decline will certainly affect the postural state and the ability of the elderly in maintaining body balance to the field of pivot. Risk reduction falls due to impaired balance in the elderly can be done by providing an exercise program. One stimulation of the increase in dynamic balance is square stepping exercise. Objective: To know the effect of square stepping exercise to the balance dianmis in elderly. Benefits of Research: Can know the effect of square stepping exercise to dynamic balance in the elderly. Method: This research was quasi experiment with two group pretest and posttest. The sample in the treatment group was given square stepping exercise training for 4 weeks with frequency 3x a week with time up and go test, while control group was not treated. Data analysis technique using Paired sample independent t-test for influence test. Result of Research: There is influence of square stepping exercise to dynamic balance in treatment group after tested Paired sample independent t-test obtained p-value 0.001, while in control group obtained p-value 0,337. Conclusion: There is a square stepping exercise effect on the dynamic balance in the elderly.
