Abstract

This study covers 2 purposes. (1) Explain the difficulties experienced by grade VIII students in MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta in essay narrative writing seen from the accuracy of the structure. (2) Explain the difficulties experienced by grade VIII students in MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta in writing narrative essays on language. Data collection techniques that researchers take is by refer method and record method. Technique of data analysis using method of agih and method of padan. The results of this study are two things: (1) found that 20 essays have not fulfilled the three narrative essay structures, while the other 4 have fulfilled the accuracy of the narrative essay structure. The inaccuracy of narrative essay structures is more because the students do not provide complications and resolutions on the essay. It can be seen from 3 essays that have no orientation, while 11 essays do not experience complications, then 7 essays have no resolution. (2) Finding 16 data that are still having difficulty in making the title, found 97 data is not exactly dictioned, the last inaccuracy related to spelling inaccuracy. The average number of narrative artifacts of 24 students found 9 inaccurate abbreviations in each essay, then found the use of inconspicuous punctuation (inconspicuous) in each article, then found as many as 16 inaccurate capital letters in each essay. , then find as many as three inaccurate word writing in each essay.
