Abstract

The study aims to improve students’ cognitive ability through number flashcard games at PAUD Surya Mentari Kartasura. It is a classroom action research conducted collaboratively. It is practical, situational, and contextual study based on the problem occurring in daily learning at PAUD Surya Mentari Kartasura. The techniques of taking data are by observation, field note, and document. In this classroom action research, the data are analyzed since the action is conducted and developed during the reflection and writing report process. The technique of data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. It is done through three steps, those are data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The result of the study shows that cognitive ability of class A students of PAUD Surya Mentari Kartasura can be improved by using number flashcard games. The improvement of the students’ cognitive ability can be seen from the observation result showing improvement from the preliminary test to the action in cycle I and cycle II. The improvement occurs in every meeting from preliminary test to the first and second cycles. On the preliminary test, the students’ cognitive ability achieves 46.29%, on the first cycle it achieves 62.04%, and on the second cycle it achieves 87.04%.
