Abstract
This study was conducted with the aim of describing students' difficulties in solving math problems.This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is 5 of 35 students from XF-2 class at SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Surakarta. Data collection techniques in this study using tests, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data using triangulation method, by comparing the test result data with the interview. Data analysis techniques performed three stages of data reduction, data presentation, as well as data verification and conclusion. The analytical framework was developed based on the Polya method. The results of this study obtained students' difficulties in solving the probability story problem : (1) Difficulty understanding the problem that is student students are not used to do the problem by writing down what is known, the students are wrong in writing the symbol, not yet understand the concept,(2) The difficulty of planning the completion of the students can not write and use the formula of opportunity correctly,(3) Difficulties in implementing the settlement plan that is students make the wrong model of mathematics, less thorough and hasty in working on the problem, (4) Difficulty checking back is the students just look back at the answers that have been written without checking the truth and the students can not manage the workmanship well Keywords: Permutation, Polya, Student Difficulties
