Abstract
Student learning activities are strongly influenced by the teacher’s activities or the way or method of teaching used by the teacher. The learning process at Al Islam Junior High School of Kartasura still uses lecture method, teacher-centered learning, low student activity, low subject comprehension, students feel bored and drowsy, students are less daring to express their opinions. The learning strategy of card sorting can diminish a saturated or bored class. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of card sorting learning strategy along can improve the students learning result of Al Islam junior high school Kartasura, Sukoharjo district on subject of human respiratory system year of time 2013/2014. This research is a classroom action research that was conducted with three cycles, it was researchers collaborate with teachers in implementing learning strategies starting from initial dialogue, preparation, observation, reflection, and evaluation, with repetition so that student learning result can increase. Increased learning result can be seen from the ability affective and cognitive. The result of this research show that before the implementation of the action obtained average student learning result cognitive aspects of 67.23, the average in the first cycle decreased to 59.36; in cycle II increased to 68.39, and the average in cycle III increased to 82.26. While affective aspects in cycle I with average 12,16 (with criteria of student interest), increased in cycle II to15,84 (student interest), and increase in cycle III to 18,32 (students are very interested). It can be concluded that card sort strategy can improve the students learning result on subject of human respiratory system at Al-Islam junior high school Kartasura, Sukoharjo district class VIIIB semester 1 year of time 2013/2014 on the cognitive assessment (complete KKM 65 as much as 90%) and affective aspects (participate dare to ask & answer, dare to express ideas/opinions with polite, discipline, and care).
