Abstract
Environmental friendliness combines recycle pavement recycled as Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) with Cold Mix Asphalt using emulsion asphalt for more efficient use of natural resources. RAP still has less competitive quality properties so it is necessary to add additional materials (filler) to improve the RAP properties. Filler used is a cement that is as an additive. In addition, the RAP material to control the gradations in the field according to proportion is also difficult to obtain. The purpose of this study was to find out the variation of the mixture of cold asphalt emulsion mixture using RAP material with Indirect Tensile Strength Propertis (ITS), volumetric characteristic analysis, the effect of adding 1.5% filler to mixed properties. The cold mixture of emulsion asphalt using RAP material from Weleri road, Kendal and adding filler (cement) of 1.5% from the total weight of the mixture with the cement specification data from PT. Semen Gresik as well as CSS-1 emulsion asphalt binders from PT. Izza Sarana Karsa. AC WC gradation is varied ie lower limit, mid and upper limit and given filler material of 1.5% from total weight of aggregate mixture. The gradation and mixed specifications used are Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC WC) Bina Marga 2010. To design the cold mixture of emulsion asphalt starting from the preparation of tools and materials, test aggregate characteristics, sift the material, estimate the initial Emulsion Asphalt, mix proportion, test blanket and solidification, determination of Optimum Residual Asphalt Residue (KARO), mixed test with modified ITS test to obtain parameter of gradation variation on mixed properties and ITS RAP material. Based on the results of testing the gradation variation on mixed properties and ITS RAP material with emulsion asphalt that gradation of cold mixture of AC WC closer to the upper limit of gradation specification, ITS value is increasing, ITS highest value at upper limit gradation 154,252 kPa, due to change of treatment aggregate gradation of mixed volumetric values does not meet specifications. The data of volumetric testing approaching the mixed specification are, on the gradation of the upper limit of VMA value of 18.06%; VIM 7.06%; VFWA 60.95%. Testing with the addition of 1.5% filler content, can increase the value of ITS on the upper limit grading of 212,554 kPa and lower ITS value at lower limit gradient, middle limit compared without using filler. This is because the filler used is cement, while the better cement is used in compressive strength tests compared to tensile strength. With Addition of 1.5% Filler causing the cavity in the mixture to decrease and meet the specification on upper limit gradation that is VMA value 16,43%; VIM 5.20%; VFWA 68.54%.
