Abstract

The frequent problems that occur in schools are generally related to students discipline while they are in its environment. In anticipating those disobedience, the schools are giving sanctions for students who are conducted breaking the rules. The sanctions become suggestion for students to obay and to order toward school rules. This research purpose is to find out the correlation between sanction and discipline in SMA AL Islam 1 Surakarta. The research subjects are 119 student of IX grade IPS class of SMA AL Islam 1 Surakarta with sampling taken method by using simple random sampling. The measuring tool is using sanction scale and discipline scale. The dependent variabel in this research is discipline and the independent variable is sanction. Analysis method is using simple linier regression with assistant of SPSS ( Statistical Product and service solution) 15.0 for windows program. The research result is obtained regression equation of Y= 71.543 + 0.131X which means that when there is no sanction therefore discipline consistent value is 71.543 and each additional 1% sanction therefore the discipline will be increased 0.31. The effective contribution is 4.7% (r2 = 0,047) toward the sanction, so that there is 95.3% is influenced by other variables. This research conclusion is that there is correlation between sanction and students discipline in SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. Keyword : punishment, discipline, simple linier regression, SMA AL Islam 1
