Abstract

Backgorund: Dynamic balance is one of important aspects which affect the functional ability of peoples. Dynamic balance is influenced by many factors such as postural control and biomechanical factors. Flat foot created an overload mechanism in medial area of the foot, which will be directed to the proximal area such as the knee, hip, and low back as the compensation of overload mechanism caused by flat foot leading to affect the ability of postural control in maintaining the dynamic balance. Core Stability Exercise is an exercise methods that aimed to activate the core and global muscles in order to optimize the performance of the core and global muscles in maintaining the alignment of the postur. Core stablity is considered as the inisiator of every movement of the body, hence it may improve the performance of lower limb efficiently in order to maintaining body’s balance during an activity that involved dynamic movement. Research Aims: To determine the effect of Core Stability Exercise in dynamic balance of young adults aged 18-25 with flat foot deformity. Methods: This is a research using Quasi Experimental and Pre-Post Tests with a Control Group Design. 26 samples were chosen using purposive sampling method. Results: The result of Mann-Whitney test at dynamic balance differences between flat foot and normal group is P value of (0,0001). Conclusion: Core Stability Exercise may improve the dynamic balance.
