Abstract

Achievement motivation has an important role from within students to suport the success of education. The purpose of this research was to examine the effectiveness of modelling in improving achievement motivation in the junior high school students. The research populations are the 7th grade and 8 grade students of Muhammadiyah 5 junior high school of Surakarta, with the number of samples was 42 people. The technique was used is purposive random sampling, that the researcher restrict the subjects by the determined characteristics and randomly divided into 3 group, they are: the experimental group 1(througth the method og symbolic model), the experimental group 2 (through the method of live model) and the control group. Data collection tools used achievement motivation scale, observation, and interview. Hypothesis test result based on one way anava (anova) yielded a value of F of 0,444 with a sig.value of 0,645 (p>0,05). It means that there was no significant influence between modelling on achievement motivation of junior high school students. While the minor hypothesis test used friedman test, shows a chie sguare value of 7,673 with asymp sig. 0,022 (p<0,05) in the experimental group 1, which means that there was influence between symbolic model on achievement motivation of junior high school students and friedman test shown a chie square value of 1,762 with asymp sig. 0,414 (p>0,05) in the experimental group 2, which means that there was significant influence between live model on achievement on junior high school students. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that : 1) there is no significan influence between modelling on achievement motivation in the junior high school students; 2) the method of symbolic model was more effective compared to the live model.
