Abstract
This research paper aims to improve the student learning motivation in IPS subject through the implementation of strategy directed reading activity (DRA). This type of research is PTK (Classroom Action Research). The subject is fourth grade students of SD Mojorejo 2 Sragen which is 20 of students. The techniques of collecting data using observation, interview, field note and documentation. The validation test using source triangulation techniques and techniques. The Techniques of analizing data is data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. The results showed an increase in learning motivation in social studies subjects. Based on the results of the study showed an increase in IPS learning motivation. Increasing the motivation is showed in 5 indicators of diligence in learning cycle 30%, cycle I 70%, cycle II 100%, Happiness self-learning pre cycle 30%, cycle I 60%, cycle II 85%, Diligence and full of spirit in learning cycle pre-cycle 60%, cycle I 70%, cycle II 75%, Preference in training pre-cycle l 50%, cycle I 85%, cycle II 95%, Courage in maintaining the opinion pre cycle 40% , cycle I 60%, cycle II 70%. this concluding of this research that the strategy of directed reading activity (DRA) can improve the learning motivation of IPS in fourth grade students of SD Mojorejo 2 Sragen academic year 2017/2018.
