Abstract
This study aims to give an idea of the role of teachers in developing the emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence of students. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. The location of research in MTs Muhammadiyah Al Manar of Demak Regency with 6 teachers as main informant and 15 students as supporting informant. Data collection in this study used observation, interview and open questionnaire for students. The results of this study indicate that: 1) In developing emotional intelligence, teachers act as advisers, motivators, educators, and facilitators. Advice and Motivation are given to students in recognizing emotions and managing their emotions, such as feelings of sadness, anger and despair. Education is given to students by instilling empathy, such as visiting friends and helping friends in learning. While facilities in the form of activities silaturrahim, sports, and extracurricular given to students in order to bring closer friendship. 2) In developing spiritual intelligence, teachers act as teachers, correspondents, evaluators, advisers, motivators, mentors, and models. Teaching is given in relation to religious matters, especially worship. Corrections are performed as a form of supervision of student activities at school. Evaluations are given to students for the offenses committed. The evaluation is in the form of educational sanctions, such as reading the Qur'an or praying in congregation. Advice is given to students in honesty, usefulness for others, and self-reliance. Motivation is given to students in self-maturity, suffering for failure, and patience over illness. Guidance is given to students in critical thinking. While the model is given to students in worship, whether mandatory such as praying in congregation five times, or is sunnah like dhuha prayer and tahajud.
