Abstract

The aim of this research is to know: (1) the implementation of moving class in SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta, (2) how big the implementation of moving class in increasing the independence character of students in SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta, (3) how big the implementation of moving class in increasing the character of responsibility students at SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta. This research uses qualitative research, with descriptive analytic design. Technique of collecting data using observation method, interview, documentation and questionnaire. Data analysis technique using interactive model. The results of this study indicate that (1) the implementation of moving class in SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta has been running well and smoothly in terms of management of class transfer, learning room management, teacher and student administration management, and assessment management; (2) moving class implementation in improving the independence character, student questionnaire results show self-esteem score of students of class XI A Music Art of 33.90 or 84.75%, class XI B is 32.95 or 82.37%, and class XI C at 33.35 or 83.37%. The level of independence of these three classes earned a very high predicate with the criteria of 81.1% - 100%; (3) moving class implementation in improving the character of responsibility, student questionnaire results indicate student's responsibility score of class XI A Art of Music as much as 33.95 or 84.87%, class XI B is 32.90 or 82.25%, and class XI C of 33.75 or 84.37%. Based on the results of data analysis in this study proved that the implementation of moving class can improve the character of independence and responsibility of students in SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta academic year 2016/2017.
