Abstract
This study aims to improve the activity of learning mathematics through cooperative model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) in grade VII C students of SMP Negeri 2 Sawit on even semester. This research is a classroom action research conducted collaboratively between researcher and mathematics teacher. Recipients of the action are the students of class VII C SMP Negeri 2 Sawit as many as 22 students and the doer is mathematics teacher. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, field notes, documentation and tests. Data analysis techniques used in this study are reduction, presentation and conclusion. The result of this research are the increase of student learning activity of mathematics, it can be seen from each of the following indicators, (1) the students are active in responding to the questions given by the teacher before the action as much as 3 students (13.36%), and after the action as many as 14 students (63, 63%); (2) the students are confident in doing the problem before the action as many as 5 students (27,72%), and after action as many as 18 students (81,81%); (3) the students asked the teacher about the unknown matter before the action as much as 6 students) 27,27%), and after action as many as 17 students (77,27%); (4) the students are involved in the learning process before the action as many as 5 students (27,72%), and after action as many as 18 students (81,81%).
