Abstract
The study aims to identify the underlying principles of CERDIK method, the objectives of CERDIK method, the teaching materials, the role of teacher and the students, and the procedures of CERDIK method. This study is a qualitative research. It was carried out on 6th April 2009. I was conducted to the elementary level students of Gama Exacta Course, Sragen. To get the data, the writer used observation to know the process of teaching used, interview, and document. From the result of the observation, the writer got the data to be analyzed. There are three underlying principles of CERDIK method that are CEpat - Ringkas – MetoDIK. The objectives are to increase the students’ ability of elementary level students, to facilitate the students in studying English, to make the students easy in understanding the materials, and to help the students in doing the exercises quickly. The teacher’s roles as a facilitator, motivator, mediator, manager, and evaluator. And the student’s role is the learners. The material are shapes, profession, and time.
