Abstract

The general objective of this research is to improve the student’s speaking skill. While, the specific objectives of this research are describing three things: the implementation of teaching speaking skill using Smarty Edutainment Children Songs, the improvement of the student’s motivation to produce English orally, and the advantages and the weaknesses of teaching speaking skill using Smarty Edutainment Children Songs. In achieving the objectives of the research, the researcher uses Classroom Action Research (CAR). There are two cycles in this action research in which each cycle is conducted in three meetings: two meetings of teaching-learning process and ended by giving post-test. Each cycles of the action consists of four steps: Planning, Implementing, Observing, and Reflecting. The research is held in SDN Gumpang 02 Kartasura. The subject of this study is (Class 5) the students of SDN Gumpang 02 Kartasura that consists 17 students. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses qualitative analysis taken from observation, interview, and test. After analyzing the data, the writer describes the result of the research in which the students show a positive response. They look enthusiastic, energetic, braver, and more confident to speak. Besides, they become active and brave to produce English orally. Moreover, both the result of the student’s responses and the student’s test before and after the treatments indicate that the students have improvement in achieving the English speaking skill. Thus, it can be said that the teaching speaking skill by using Smarty Edutainment Children Songs for young learner in Gumpang 02 Kartasura is successful.
