Abstract

The research belongs to descriptive research. The objective of this researching to find the teacher’s effort to improve students ability in writing. The teacher applied two methods namely Product-based Approach and Process-based Approach. The researcher took the teacher and the second year students as subject of the study. The researcher used observation and interview. Observation is method of collecting the data by observing the research subject and object. Interview is dialogue done by the researcher to get information from the interviewee. It was conducted by asking the students and the teacher about process of teaching writing. There were many kinds problems founded; firstly, the students lack of vocabulary. Secondly, the students misunderstood in grammar. Thirdly, the students difficult to arrange words became a good sentence. Then, the other problem was in looking for the idea. After analyzing the data the researcher concludes that the teacher’s efforts to improve students’ ability in teaching writing are 1 the activities (a) The teacher asks to the students bring dictionary. (b) The students memorize vocabulary. (c) The students make writing in their notes. (d) The teacher and the students discuss the grammar together. 2 The media used and how to use the media (a) Photocopy pper (b) OHP (c) Dictionry (d)Students worksheet.
