Abstract
Background : Myofascial trigger point syndrome upper trapezius muscle is pain that occurs neck area, pain referral on the lateral area of the head, jaw, and temple caused by excessive workloads. Deep transverse friction to reduce pain, with a massage using the technique of transverse friction and pressure on the muscle injury. Purpose : To determine the effect of deep transverse friction to decrease pain myofascial trigger point syndrome upper trapezius muscle. Methods : This study uses a quasi-experimental study with pre and post test with control group design. Total sample is 14 people, divided into the treatment group and the control group. Measurement of pain using the VAS (Visual Analogue Scale). Data analysis technique using the wilcoxon signed ranks test and mann whitney test. Results : After statistical test wilcoxon signed ranks test showed significant p value = 0.018 <0.05 in the treatment group and the p value = 0.180> 0.05 in the control group. Conclusion : There is the influence of deep transverse friction to decrease pain in patients myofascial trigger point syndrome upper trapezius muscle.
