Abstract
In Indonesia, English is taught in all formal education institutions, from elementary school to university. The major purpose of English teaching in Indonesia is to acquire ability in reading, listening, writing, and speaking English. The condition of learning process especially English learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Bekonang Filial Kartasura has kind of problem. Teacher did not have the best method to teach the student in order the student easy to understand the material. Many of student unlike English, they are afraid in following English, because they feel that English is difficult. The writer used descriptive qualitative method. The method of collecting data is observation, interview, and document analyses. The data are the goal of process, the means of assessment. The research was done on 15th march 2003 until 10th December 2006. by using method, the writer analyses the data by collecting, classify, analyzing, and drawing conclusion. Based on the data analysis, the causes of problem of the failure of teaching by the factors: teacher, student, method, material, teaching aid, and environment.
