Abstract
The tourism potential in Gunungkidul Regency continues to be explored and developed to enhance regional tourism appeal. Currently, Gunungkidul Regency has 37 tourist villages, including Umbulrejo Tourism Village. This study aims to: 1) Analyze the tourism potential in Umbulrejo Tourism Village, 2) Analyze tourism obstacles in Umbulrejo Tourism Village, and 3) Analyze the role of the pentahelix model (Academics, Business, Community, Government, and Media) in Umbulrejo Tourism Village. This research uses a qualitative approach with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) design. Data sources for this study include primary data obtained from interviews and observations of community leaders who develop Umbulrejo Tourism Village, as well as secondary data such as research articles, tourist visit records, and media literature to supplement the main information. Data collection techniques include interviews with Pentahelix actors, observation, and documentation. Data validity is tested through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability tests. The analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman's method, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show: 1) Umbulrejo Tourism Village has natural, educational, cultural, and culinary tourism potential. The Karst area, Cokro Cave, Gremeng Cave, and Mardedo Hill offer captivating natural views, while freshwater fish and chocolate farming provide education on local products. Traditional arts such as Karawitan, Reog, Kethoprak, and Langendriyan enhance cultural appeal. Local culinary products, such as chocolate products, "tempe tanpa regi," and "telangu tea," add to the tourism appeal, supporting the local economy and cultural preservation. 2) According to interviews and observations, the main obstacle in developing Umbulrejo Tourism Village is the limited human resources. 3) The role of pentahelix actors is uneven. Academics and the community contribute significantly to the development of Umbulrejo Tourism Village, while the role of government and media is present but not yet optimal. The business sector has not contributed to the development of Umbulrejo Tourism Village. Therefore, increasing the role of less optimal actors is needed so that tourism in Umbulrejo Tourism Village can develop better and improve the welfare of the local community.
