Abstract

This research was conducted to measure task and ego orientation among junior high school pencak silat athletes in the Special Sports School of Surakarta. The study used the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ) with 13 items. TEOSQ is an instrument used to measure task and ego orientation in the context of sports. The hypothesis in this research is that the researcher assumes that task orientation among athletes in the Special Sports School of Surakarta is higher than ego orientation. The design used in this study is descriptive quantitative. The sample consisted of 14 athletes selected through total sampling. The results of this study show that the average ego orientation level among junior high school athletes in the Special Sports School of Surakarta is 2.9, which falls into the medium category. Meanwhile, the average task orientation level among these athletes is 4.2, which falls into the very high category.
