Abstract

Student learning achievement at school is influenced by several factors. This research aims to enable researchers to find out how the formal educational background of parents and the implementation of parents' democratic parenting patterns are influenced by aspects that can influence PPKn learning achievement in junior high school students. This type of research applies quantitative research with a survey approach. The data in this research was obtained by researchers through questionnaires and documentation. The research population consisted of 224 students of SMP Negeri 1 Tanon class VIII, and the Proportional Random Sampling technique according to Arikunto was used to take a sample of 56 students. The SPSS version 22 program was used by researchers for data analysis techniques. The results of the research show that the variable parental formal educational background has a partial influence on PPKn learning achievement, the variable of parents' application of democratic parenting also has a partial influence on PPKn learning achievement and simultaneously, parents' formal educational background and the application of democratic parenting. Parents have an influence on PPKn learning achievement. It can be concluded that external factors determine students' PPKn learning achievement while at school.
