Abstract

This research was conducted with the following objectives: 1) To describe the relationship between peer support and academic procrastination behavior in the process of completing a thesis by final-year students at PPKn FKIP UMS; 2) To examine the impact of self-control on academic procrastination behavior in completing a thesis by final-year students at PPKn FKIP UMS; 3) To analyze whether there is a relationship between peer support and self-control on the completion of a thesis by final-year students at PPKn FKIP UMS. This study applied a Likert scale tested on 44 students and also took 44 students as subjects. All data were then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 23 software. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, partial tests, simultaneous tests (F-tests), and the coefficient of determination (R2). The results of this study show that the significance value for the peer support variable is 0.025 < 0.05, and the t-value is greater than the t-table value, which is -2.175 > 2.020. This negative value indicates an opposite direction, meaning that the higher the peer support, the lower the level of student procrastination. For the self-control variable, the significance value is 0.030 < 0.05, and the t-value is greater than the t-table value, which is -2.414 > 2.020. The negative value indicates an opposite direction, meaning that the higher the self-control in students, the lower their level of procrastination. For the dependent variable, the research results show that the simultaneous determination coefficient (R2) of 48.4% affects student procrastination, while 51.6% is influenced by other variables outside this research.
