Abstract

The demands of completing studies for final year students cause various problems such as anxiety. Anxiety can be triggered by stress and influenced by experiences facing problems such as help-seeking behavior. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between stress and help-seeking behavior with anxiety of final semester students of the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS). The hypothesis of this study is that there is a relationship between stress and help-seeking behavior with anxiety of final semester students of the Faculty of Psychology, UMS, there is a relationship between stress and anxiety of final semester students of the Faculty of Psychology, UMS, and there is a relationship between help-seeking behavior with anxiety of final semester students of the Faculty of Psychology, UMS. The study was conducted using a quantitative correlational method through a survey conducted by distributing a scale of help-seeking behavior, a stress scale, and an anxiety scale via google forms. The research sample was 167 final year students of the Faculty of Psychology, UMS. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression tests. The results of the study showed a relationship between stress and help- seeking behavior with anxiety simultaneously in final year students of the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This study can provide knowledge about the level of anxiety in final year students of the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta and the factors that influence it, especially related to help-seeking behavior and stress. The results of the study can be a basis for phenomena for institutions related to anxiety in final year students, so that there is an intervention design that considers behavioral advice to seek help and reduce stress levels in an effort to reduce anxiety, especially in students of the Faculty of Psychology, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta with very low, low, and moderate levels.
