Abstract
One of the main human needs is a house. The need for housing continues to increase along with increasingly rapid population growth, which causes limited land and high land prices which cause several settlement problems, such as crowding and slums. Flats are an affordable housing solution for low-income people (MBR) in urban areas. One of the flats built in Semarang City is Rusunawa Kaligawe. However, the current condition of the Kaligawe Rusunawa no longer meets adequate housing standards for low-income people (MBR). Therefore, it is important to redesign the Kaligawe Flats using a Behavioral Architecture approach. This approach aims to create a residential environment that not only meets physical needs, but also supports the psychological aspects and social interactions of residents. The redesign will be based on literature studies regarding the criteria for livable flats and the concept of Behavioral Architecture, as well as analysis of residents' needs through surveys and interviews. The design concept will be developed by considering the needs and preferences of residents, as well as the principles of Behavioral Architecture in creating a friendly residential environment that supports the well-being of its residents. Design targets include identifying the psychological and social needs of residents, environmental design that promotes positive social interactions, facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles, integration of sustainability aspects, and active participation of residents in managing the residential environment. In this way, it is hoped that Rusunawa Kaligawe can become a place to live that is safe, comfortable and supports the psychological and social well-being of its residents in accordance with the aim of providing flats for MBR. The Behavioral Architecture concept that will be implemented is to provide communal space to support social activities and social interactions of Rusunawa Kaligawe users.
