Abstract

Cases of musculoskeletal system disorders and injuries are health problems that are often encountered among the public. Data from the Salatiga City Health Office recorded around 1,200 cases of fractures, 800 cases of traffic accidents involving bone injuries, 500 cases of osteoporosis, and around 300 cases of arthritis handled by local health facilities in 2023. However, Salatiga City does not have a special orthopedic hospital, so patients are forced to be referred to other cities which causes obstacles related to accessibility, high costs, and delays in treatment. Therefore, the presence of an Orthopedic Hospital that integrates physical therapy approaches is a necessity to provide comprehensive and effective care. This research aims to design the design concept of the Orthopedic Hospital building according to WHO standards and integrate physical therapy approaches involving therapeutic exercises, therapeutic modalities, and manual techniques as well as develop an optimal design to create a therapeutic environment that supports patient recovery. The design process is carried out by considering observation data, regulations, technical standards, RTRW, theory, and relevant precedent studies to achieve optimal design solutions, the review of concepts, approaches and site conditions is an important factor that must be considered. Meanwhile, the discussion focused on solving problems related to the approach to designing orthopedic hospitals with physical therapy to improve the quality of life of patients.
