Abstract

The cylinder arm is a hydraulic system actuator in the form of a cylinder located on the excavator boom. The function of the cylinder arm is to advance and reverse the arm. The cylinder arm includes the components of the cylinder head, cylinder tube (body), piston road (piston rod), piston, o-rings and seals, brake bushings, locking bolts. The movement of the arm is carried out by the arm cylinder. This movement system is carried out by valve arm in and valve arm out. The arm will make a lifting motion if the arm valve is out while the arm in valve is closed. Fluid will flow from the arm out valve and will press the piston arm cylinder. As for the movement of the arm down, the condition of the arm in and arm out valves applies the other way around. As for the damage to the cylinder arm, there is no power when moving the arm back and forth, and the aram cylinder is experiencing oil seepage on the cylinder head seals. Based on the results of observations of the cylinder arm, it was found that the piston seal was damaged with age, the hydraulic cylinder was dirty with scratches, water was entering the hydraulic syster. Then the damage can be overcome by cleaning and sanding the cylinder and piston tubes and replacing seals and o-rings.
