Abstract

Heavy equipment is a mechanical machine designed to perform various construction functions using power greater than one kilowatt. Wheel Loader is one type of heavy equipment with the advantage of having a large bucket and an efficient transmission system in transferring power from the engine to the final drive. However, damage to the transmission system can significantly reduce the performance of the Wheel Loader by disrupting optimal power flow. The purpose of this writing is to understand the root causes of low power in the transmission system, identifying issues such as wear on transmission gears, bearings, and hydraulic systems, and redesigning potential components causing low power to enhance operational efficiency of the Wheel Loader LG833PRO. Data was obtained through two main methods: Literature Review, gathering information from various sources such as Parts Book, Shop Manual, journals, and related literature; and On-the-Job Training at PT. Mitra Teknindo Sejati, involving interviews with mechanics to identify and understand repair actions for the identified issues. The identification results show that low power in the transmission of Wheel Loader LG833PRO is caused by wear on friction plates due to contamination from foreign particles and inadequate lubrication, thereby affecting power transfer efficiency and overall equipment performance.
