Abstract

Rice is a fundamental crop essential for human life and remains a staple food for many people in Indonesia. Agriculture in Indonesia has made significant advancements compared to the past, aimed at increasing both the quantity and quality of rice production. However, pest issues such as rats and sparrows have become a serious concern in modern agriculture. These pests can cause severe damage to agricultural production, threaten food security, and harm farmers' livelihoods. In this context, designing an agricultural assistance system that uses audio to repel rats and sparrows is highly relevant. This system is designed to operate automatically, detecting conditions based on light intensity during the day or night, and producing effective sounds to repel pests, thereby reducing crop losses and increasing agricultural productivity. The system is controlled by an Arduino Nano, with an LDR sensor to detect light levels, which is then sent to the Arduino. The relay executes commands from the Arduino to switch the voltage on and off to two MP3 modules, each serving as audio to repel rats and sparrows. Data was successfully obtained from this design based on direct testing using experimental materials with rats and sparrows placed in containers or cages with various audio frequencies. The frequencies used for testing rats ranged from 18KHz to 25KHz, while the frequencies for sparrows ranged from 1,9KHz to 2,6KHz , with various responses observed from the experimental materials.
