Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered global chaos, including in Indonesia, one of which is in the field of education. In the education sector, from mid-March 2020 educational institutions in Indonesia had to be closed, as a result teaching and learning activities were disrupted so that the learning process was transferred to a distance learning process. This is done so that the spread of the Corona virus does not spread further. Learning inevitably must continue so that the goals of education can be achieved. So this requires the school to be more active, creative and innovative in carrying out the learning process. This research aims to find out how online PAI and Character learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Karanganyar went, what the obstacles were and what the solutions were. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using a phenomenological approach. The subjects in this research were a PAI and Budi Pekerti teacher and three students and researchers act as research instruments. The data collection methods are interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis used in this research is data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. From the results of the analysis of the data obtained, conclusions can be drawn, namely the PAI and Character Teachers at Muhammadiyah 5 Karanganyar High School in carrying out online learning using the WhatsApp Group learning media with the assistance of using learning media such as Google Form, Microsoft Form and WPS Office. The obstacles encountered while delivering online learning were 1). Time limitations, 2). Network and facility limitations, 3). Lack of learning strategies, 4). Decreased student achievement, and 5). Obstacles related to the use of learning strategies and media for students with special needs.
