Abstract

This study investigates the impact of incorporating saintific and STEAM based on social wisdom approaches, on the achievement of students in the fields of natural and social sciences. The quantitative method is applied for this research and gathering by quasi-experimental research design. The participants in the study were fourth grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Karangasem, during the 2023/2024 semester. Two classes were selected using the cluster random sampling method. Class 4.3 was the first experimental class to be handled with a scientific method based on local wisdom, followed by class 4.2, which was treated with a STEAM approach based on local wisdom. The data was gathered using testing and documenting approaches. The research data was evaluated by normality and homogeneity tests. Normality test were conducted at 5% significance level for first experimental class got result Lvalue= 0,125 < Ltable= 0,173 that indicating normal data’s distribution. Likewise, for second experimental class got result Lvalue= 0,148 < Ltable= 0,173 that indicating normal data’s distribution. The test for homogeneity with 5% significance level got X2value= 0,0232 < X2table= 0,3841 that indicating homogeneous data’s distribution. Because the data is normal and homogenous, the following t-test is performed using an independent sample t-test. The study yielded the following result: (1) scientific learning based on local wisdom influences on student's learning outcomes in the sciences with tvalue= 0,028 > ttable= 2,011; (2) STEAM learning based on local wisdom influences on student's learning outcomes in the sciences with tvalue= 0,028 > ttable= 2,011; (3) scientific learning based on local wisdom significantly impacts than STEAM learning based on local wisdom on student’s sciences learning outcomes, as measured by the average of learning outcomes have 80,83 for the 1st experiment class compared to 71,15 for the 2nd.
