Abstract
Background: Elderly independence in Activities of daily living (ADL) is someone who carries out activities and functions of daily life that are carried out by humans on a regular basis. Changes in the elderly that occur physiologically and are caused by degenerative factors will affect the performance of body functions, causing a decrease in the ability to carry out activities in old age. At that age you automatically experience various deficiencies in carrying out daily activities. Objective: This study aims to identify the level of independence of the elderly at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home. Method: The research design used in this research is analytical descriptive. A total of 30 respondents used the Barthel index questionnaire with a saturated sampling technique from elderly people living at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home. This research uses one variable, namely the level of independence of elderly people in daily living activities. This thesis uses univariate statistical methods to determine the demographic characteristics of respondents, including age, gender, highest level of education, and occupation. This test was carried out to identify independent variables that reflect the level of independence of elderly people in carrying out daily activities at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home. Data analysis is carried out after data processing.Results: A study conducted at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home showed that 100% of the elderly had a mild level of independence and dependency. Characteristics of elderly respondents at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home, most of whom were 60-70 years old, female, not in school and had previous work as housemaids. The level of independence for the elderly at the Aisyiyah Banjarsari Elderly Home is mostly in the category of light dependency independence.
