Abstract
Menstruation can cause physical discomfort in the form of pain known as dysmenorrhea. Factors that contribute to dysmenorrhea include psychological factors (such as emotional and stress), constitutional factors (such as anemia and chronic diseases), obstruction factors of cervical canalises, endocrine factors, nutrition intake (iron, calcium, vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D, and E), family history, exercise habits, and stress levels. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between vitamin D intake, stress levels, and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female students of SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan. This study used an observational method with a cross-sectional approach involving 40 female students of SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The sampling technique used a simple random sampling method. Data on vitamin D intake was collected using the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), stress level data was collected using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire, and data on the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank Test. Based on the results obtained 52.5% of female students at SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan lack vitamin D intake. A total of 15% of respondents had severe stress levels and 12.5% of respondents feel severe pain experiencing primary dysmenorrhea. There was a correlation between vitamin D intake (p = 0.000; r = -0.741) and stress levels (p = 0.000; r = 0.623) with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female students of SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan. In conclusion, there was a correlation between vitamin D intake and stress levels with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female students of SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan.
