Abstract
This research aims to determine the thickness of the layer and the rate of corrosion in the layer formed on gray cast iron coated with a layer of nickel and brass using the electroplating method. The coating on gray cast iron uses the electroplating method using a voltage of 12 Volts and a current of 5 Ampere for each coating. In this study, variations in immersion time were used, namely 60 minutes nickel and 10 seconds chrome, 75 minutes nickel and 15 seconds chrome, and 75 seconds nickel. minutes and chrome 20 seconds. The results show that this time variation affects the thickness of the layer, while the time variation has no effect on the corrosion rate. where there was an increase with each time variation in layer thickness, and the corrosion rate decreased at the time variation for nickel 75 minutes and chrome 15 seconds, again there was an increase in the corrosion rate at the time variation for nickel 90 minutes and chrome 20 seconds.
