Abstract

Tiktok is an application that is used as a platform to promote various products including food, cosmetics, fashion, etc. in an interesting way. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between self-concept and self-control and consumer behavior at the Tiktok Shop among students. This research design uses a quantitative research design with a correlational research type. The population in this study were students from the Faculty of Psychology at a Private University in Surakarta who used the Tiktok application with sampling using simple purposive sampling with the criteria 1) active students at the Faculty of Psychology at a Private University in Surakarta, 2) Age 18-24 years, 3) using the TikTok application. To obtain primary data, researchers used 3 scales, namely the self-concept scale, self-control scale, and consumer behavior scale. Distribution of the research scale using the Google Form platform. The number of samples selected was 130 students. The analysis technique in this research is multiple regression using IBM Statistics SPPS 29. The research results of all variables after being tested simultaneously prove that there is a very significant relationship between self-concept and self-control and consumer behavior at the Tiktok Shop among students. Furthermore, the variable self-concept and consumer behavior has a very significant negative relationship. Meanwhile, the variable self-control and consumer behavior also found a very significant negative relationship. The effective contribution of self-control to consumptive behavior in this study was 90.2%, while the effective contribution of self-concept to consumptive behavior was 6.8%, while the other 3% was related to other variables not studied such as culture, social class, reference group, situation, family, motivation, learning experiences, and lifestyle
